Queen of Martyrs Parish, Wainoni Bay, Solomon Islands

"SENT FOR SERVICE / MISSION"

A group of the parishioners of the Queen of Martyrs Parish, Wainoni Bay, under the pastoral care of the parish priest, Fr Richard Harui sm, joined to continue promoting the Year of the Laity which was declared by the Confrence of Bishops for Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. The Year of the Laity is on its third year running with the theme, "Lay people sent for Service / Mission." A part of the many activities promoting the mission and service of the laity is to take the Paschal Candle which represents Christ the Light to every family in the parish. All the parishes in the Dioceses of the Solomon are carrying out the same mission. The Year of the Laity will end on the Feast of Christ the King in 2021.

This is not the first from AMS / MMC and the students showed their appreciation and gratitutde by lending their hands, joyfully, to the construction

Bougainville Day

Fr Dylan Hatobu sm is completing his studies in the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane and he is also ministering to his people of Bougainville who are living in Brisbane. They came together to celebrate Bougainville Day on the 15th June to mark the 16th Year of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.  The celebration of the Eucharist was followed by a banquet in the Bougainville style and accompanied by joyful items of entertainment. A special activity of the day is to donate funds towards the needs of the Church in the Island. This year they put their hands together and emptied their pockets to help in the building of the new Church building in the parish of Turiboiru in Buin. This parish is under the care of the Marist Fathers in Bougainville.
