Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment

NC rep Rome Youth Synod 2018 InPixio
“Taking care of the young people is not an optional task for the Church, but an intergral part of her vocation and mission in history” (synod purpose). This is the focus of the current Synod of Bishops in Rome—the young people. Representing the CEPAC youth is Nathanael Lamataki, an University Law student from New Caledonia. Fr Francois Grossin sm from New Caledonia Sector acknowledged as a “great honor for him and the Archdiocese of Noumea.” The President of CEPAC, Bishop Paul Donoghue sm,   made a presentation on behalf of CEPAC. He expressed his hope that the Synod would provide some clear responses to how we can address those of our young people who have slipped away from our church, often silently; and our youth are under pressure from their peers on this topic (Sexual abuse) and they need credible answers as they are shamed and are uncomfortable associating with such a church. It was reported that the atmosphere was “open and lively”, thanks to the presence of the young who readily expressed their approval—sometimes noisily—to the Pope’s availability during the breaks.
